Stephen Zawisky is a native of Forest City, PA; a small town in the Northeastern part of the state, where he was born and raised.
After completing his Bachelor of Arts in History from Bloomsburg University in 1998, Stephen went on to The Temple University Beasley School of Law to work on his Juris Doctor. As he excelled in criminal law, he participated in Temple University's highly respected trial advocacy program and gained invaluable experience in the courtroom during a clinical at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.
After earning his J.D. in 2002, he came to the Central Pennsylvania area. He began working as a Deputy District Attorney at the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office where he handled several highly publicized murder cases. During his tenure as a prosecutor, his specialization was in cases involving narcotics, firearms and violent crimes. Stephen also litigated two death penalty murder cases.
In just over eight years, Stephen successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases and tried over seventy felony jury trials including eight murder trials. As a prosecutor, he not only served as an advisor to law enforcement authorities in the areas of criminal law, procedure, evidence and search and seizure, he was also a member of the Dauphin
County Gang Task Force.
Since 2005, he has taught at the Harrisburg Area Community College Police Academy and is a Certified Municipal Police Academy Instructor. He has taught young prosecutors for the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Association and has lectured at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. Stephen has educated hundreds of future police officers in Constitutional Law, Jurisdiction and Authority, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Search and Seizure.
In 2010, Stephen Zawisky was promoted to Senior Deputy District Attorney. Because of Stephen's wealth of experience, training and dedication to law, Abom and Kutulakis L.L.P. is proud to have him as part of their team.
