John A. Abom
John is a founding member and senior partner of the law firm of Abom & Kutulakis, L.L.P. His practice is confined and focused upon criminal defense, real estate law and general litigation. John is a Board Certified Criminal Trial Advocate, a designation earned after careful review by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. John represents clients accused of crimes throughout all of Pennsylvania in both state and federal courts. He has been selected as a Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorney who represents indigent federal criminal defendants before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the Federal Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
John has litigated countless juvenile and adult criminal matters, appeals, probation and parole revocations, jury trials, extraditions, PFA hearings, contempt matters, traffic offenses and grand jury proceedings. John is recognized as being a death penalty certified criminal defense attorney in Pennsylvania.
In his five years as an Assistant District Attorney in Cumberland County, John prosecuted serious felonies, conducted grand jury investigations, assisted law enforcement with crime scenes, and worked closely with victims and expert witnesses. John has tried more than 45 state and federal jury trials and has argued in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth, Superior and Supreme Courts. Also during the years 1991-1993, John served as the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Senate Transportation Committee.
John’s experiences as both a former prosecutor and a private criminal defense attorney leaves him well prepared to defend your legal rights when you have been accused of or charged with committing a crime.
